Steak and Potatoes

This is a staple body building recipe  for when your’e not cutting. Loaded with carbs and protein, this recipes makes a perfect lunchtime or evening meal.

If you make this recipe for your lunch, make sure youy leave at least 3 hours before you train as the high fat content will lie on your stomach (the last thing you need before a heavy squat session!).

Ingredients

  • 2 whole potatoes
  • 1 cup (250 ml) of corn
  • 4 ounces of top sirloin lean steak
  • Mrs. dash seasoning
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp. of margarine- light
  • ½ tsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup of mushrooms

Method

Step 1

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Place potatoes on two separate pieces of foil. Cut potatoes lengthwise but do not cut through.

Step 3

Add half a tsp. of butter to each potato and add a dash of salt and pepper.

Step 4

Fold the potatoes in the foil wrap.

Step 5

Set timer for 40 minutes. Place potatoes in the oven.

Step 6

Cook potatoes until the timer is complete or until the potatoes are soft all the way through.

Step 7

Meanwhile, wash and clean steak and mushrooms.

Step 8

Season steak with Mrs. Dash seasoning.

Step 9

Heat oil in a medium sized frying pan.

Step 10

Place steak in the pan and pan fry for 5-10 minutes each side.

Step 11

Meanwhile, heat a non-stick skillet and sauté mushrooms. Once mushrooms are soft, set aside.

Step 12

Once potatoes are done, take out and set aside for 3-5 minutes. Take steak out of frying pan and top with mushrooms.

Step 13

Serve with potatoes.
