Salmon, like most other types of fish, provides high quality protein and essential fatty acids, all which are greatly needed by the bodybuilder for muscle growth.
Salmon can be bought from the local fish market, and can be a great substitute for red meat. Wild caught salmon contains far fewer pollutants than farmed salmon, so be sure to ask before you purchase. You do not want to be doing more damage to your body.
With that in mind, enjoy preparing this dish as it will be well worth the effort.
- 40 ounces wild caught salmon
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 carrot
- 1 tsp. bay leaf
- ½ raw cucumber
- 5 ounces fat free sour cream
- 2 medium sized onions
- 2 cloves
- Black peppercorn
Put the salmon steaks in a large skillet; pour the lemon juice over them.
Fill the skillet with 1 inch of water.
Slice an onion and add to skillet along with the bay leaf and peppercorn.
Let the ingredients boil, then reduce heat and cover.
Simmer for 20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork
Remove the fish to a warm platter and serve with grated carrot on the side.
Mix the chopped cucumber, chopped onion and sour cream together and serve as sauce.
